At PawFlex, the old adage that necessity is the mother of invention has never been more true. After rescuing two blind and severely neglected dachshunds, Jennifer DiGrazia struggled desperately to find a solution to treat a foot wound on one of these poor pups. He would yelp and resist every time a traditional bandage was applied, and then frantically tear it off within minutes.

Jennifer knew there had to be a better way, and during a fateful late-night trip to the pharmacy, she had an idea. Skipping over the human first aid aisle and the cohesive pet bandages, she headed for the diaper aisle and grabbed a pack of diapers and some disposable training pants. Back at home, she cut out the velcro stretch fasteners and side panels and sewed them all together with needle and thread to create the very first PawFlex bandage. To Jennifer’s amazement, it only took seconds to apply to her dog’s foot, and even more surprisingly, he gave it one sniff and then left it alone! He wasn’t afraid of it and it didn’t appear to cause him any discomfort.
